Obituary of Melvin Albert Davis

Melvin Albert Davis, Jr., Mel passed away after a courageous battle against cancer.  He passed at Essentia Health Medical Center in Duluth on June 18, 2022.  He was born October 26, 1948.

Mel graduated from Proctor High School and served in Viet Nam after graduation.  Mel was employed by Cleveland Cliffs in Virginia, MN as a truck driver for many years.  He was known as “Pops” to his grandkids.  Although he and Yvonne did not have children together they had rich and rewarding relationships with the many children they fostered in their home. Mel enjoyed drag racing for many years.  He was also an avid golfer.  He and his wife played in leagues together and enjoyed the many hours they spent golfing together.

His wife will miss her lifelong love, teenage sweethearts who found each other again later in life.  The grandkids will miss their funny “pops” who always provided laughs and love.

There will be a private Celebration of Life to be held in his honor.  Arrangements by the Cremation Society of Minnesota Duluth.
