Obituary of David John Horvath

David John Horvath - After a brave three and a half year battle with cancer, beloved Husband, Brother, Father, Step-Father, Grandpa, and Uncle was greeted into Heaven by his loving parents, John and Julienne; son Jeremy; siblings, Mark and Julie; niece Cricket; and numerous fur-babies, including Katie, Murphy, Mittens, Cindy, Wim, Wim 2, Ying, and Yang.  Dave passed away at his home on June 14, 2022, a month and a half short of his 70th birthday.

Dave will be patiently waiting for and watching over his faithful wife of 21 years, Suzanne; siblings, Bonnie, Terri (Jim) Rosner, Bill (Susan), and Donald (Pam); adoring children, Jessica (Roth) Munson, Christopher (Sarah), Jessica (Raymond) Acesor, Glenn (Laura) Yep, and Will Ludden; energetic grandchildren, Samuel, Lauren, Anna, Ariana, Helen, Lucy, Raymond, Davlenn, Natalie, Penelope, Nora, Hazel, Lucas, and Jovianna; nieces, Mindy (Peter), Ashlee (Kevin), and Jenny (Bobby); great-nieces and nephews, Leah (Josh), Gillian (Kevin), Andrew (Bailey), and Natalie; and furry companions, Bailey and Kiki.

Dave’s life was full of exploration, family, and laughter.  As a young man, Dave loved traveling across the United States, Mexico, Canada, and Europe with his parents and siblings.  He continued that tradition by taking many cross-country motorcycle trips until he was no longer able to ride his Honda Goldwing.  One Christmas, their kids gave him and Sue matching leather motorcycle jackets and chaps.

Dave’s wife, kids, and grandkids enjoyed all the special meals he prepared with extra love, especially Sunday morning breakfasts with a build-your-own omelette station, grilled cheese sandwiches, and his famous banana bread.  Gathering with and feeding his family brought him tremendous joy.

Dave loved fishing and especially loved the annual trip up to Ely with his son, daughter-in-law, and grandkids.  During his last hours on Earth, Dave’s spirit was with Chris and Pip as they were at one of their favorite fishing spots using Dave’s fishing pole.  They reeled in 10 walleye and one big small mouth.  As Chris and Pip were walking on the dock, before she knew her grandpa had passed away, Pip told her dad that Grandpa was walking with them.  Chris even found a Busch beer can, Dave’s beer of choice, in the boat from last year’s trip.  Another sign that his dad will always be with him, especially when he is in the boat.

Dave and his kids would like to thank Sue for her dedication and care throughout this long fight.  They are eternally grateful.  Words cannot express their appreciation and love for her.

Dave, Sue, and their kids would like to thank Bonnie for her love and support.  As a former nurse, Bonnie’s calming presence and knowledge were invaluable.

A Celebration of Life gathering is being planned for either Saturday July 30 or Sunday July 31.  Please send your email address to jacesor@gmail.com and details will be shared when final.
