Dear Volk Family,
We are so sorry to hear about the loss of your father and grandfather. He was a dear, sweet uncle. He was so full of life and laughter. We love to remember Uncle Bob eagerly sharing engaging stories, jokes, insights and his warm hospitality. He was sincerely interested in our lives. He listened intently and offered his perspective. We admire his wisdom and musical talents. It was our honor to have known him. Please know we have been praying for him and for the entire family.

So sorry to hear that Bob had passed. He was my boss at Westwood Drug when I was in high school in the mid 70’s. Remember his kindness and patience, especially towards us teenage employees and the very elderly who often needed more of his time. Just a really nice guy.

I also graduated in the great class of 1949 from Mankato High School and played trombone with him. We formed a "trio" with Der Camaack (tuba) called the Tin Cup Trio. We played on WCCO'S Talent Contest Radio Show - Conducted by Cedric Adams. We placed second ! That evening my Cousin Edward Streater took us out on his boat on Lake Minnetonka and we serenaded the waterfront residents with our happy sounds. At our 70th H.S. reunion, he was on stage, and gave a great talk about our class, and thenpicked up his trumpet and played the H.S. fight song to the assembled students at the homecoming assembly. I watched their expressions as they were silently saying: "this guy can really blow a horn". I stayed in contact with him via email, and that will be really missed.
