Obituary of Georgine Marjorie Knutson

Georgine Marjorie Knutson (10-24-1923 to 4-20-2022) was born and raised in Waukon, Iowa, resided in Minneapolis, MN, and passed away in Jupiter, Florida at the age of 98.

She was preceded in death by Harold Knutson (husband), Martha McShane (mother) and George McShane (father). Georgine is survived by her nine children: Linda Reep, Craig Knutson, Lorelei Beaucaire, Kevan Knutson (Kathy Healy), Kern Knutson (Nancy Knutson), Lisa Knutson, K. Clark Knutson, Kent Knutson (Nick Wheatley) and Leann Harmon (Craig Harmon). She had ten grandchildren: Todd Reep, Tracy Malingo (Marc), Chad Reep, Logan Knutson, Michael Beaucaire, Andrew Rekuski (Heather Hackbarth), Stephanie Rekuski, Nathan Rekuski, Blake Knutson, and Veronica Knutson. She had one great-grandchild: Hazel Rekuski.

Georgine served in the US Navy from 1944-46. She was employed by Transamerica Insurance, Minneapolis Public Schools Health Services, and Sarah Coventry Jewelry. She was an active member in the following organizations: Grace United Methodist Church, Minnesota DFL Democratic Farmer Labor Party, Women Veterans of Minnesota, Order of Eastern Star: Arcana Chapter #38, St. Anthony Park Chapter #212, Suburban Hills Women’s Club, Red Hat Society, United Methodist Women, and 807 Lunch Group.

Georgine’s WWII service was of great importance to her and she was recognized in 2010 with a flight aboard the Honor Flight to Washington DC. Besides her impressive service and family, Georgine was known for her wisecracking wit, her devotion to education, and her passion for humanitarian causes. She enjoyed jazz music, scotch, staying up late, traveling, mystery books, and spending time with her devoted friends and family. Up until the end, Georgine led an active social life and maintained her humor, memory, and charming disposition. Her legacy will live on through the many lives she touched; her life was an inspiration to all.

Celebration of Life will be on Wednesday, June 1st 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Northeast United Methodist Church, 2510 Cleveland St NE, Minneapolis, MN
