Obituary of Duane Shaneyfelt

Duane Leroy Shaneyfelt, 87, of Inver Grove Heights, MN passed away peacefully on May 8th, 2022. Duane was born on November 16th, 1934 in Hastings, Nebraska. He earned his PhD in organic chemistry from the University of Nebraska - Lincoln.  In 1963, Duane married Martina Lee Reel of Lincoln, Nebraska and together welcomed two children - Michael Leroy and Christine Joy.  Duane worked in industrial chemical research in New York, Pennsylvania, Illinois, and Wisconsin. Throughout his life he was active in many hobbies including Boy Scouts, church activities, and the Earth Science Club of Northern Illinois (ESCONI). He enjoyed listening to folk/country music and watching old movies. He is survived by his wife, Martina; children, Michael (Kylene/ex-wife Nancy Johnson) and Christine (William) Randall. He is survived by his grandchildren Sarah and Nathan Shaneyfelt, Elizabeth Flynn, and Jacob and Sonia Randall. A gathering of family and friends to celebrate his life and spread his ashes will take place later this summer.
