Obituary of Stephen Charles Pepper
Pepper, Stephen Charles
Age 62, of Hopkins, MN, passed peacefully in his sleep on May 8, 2022. Steve was born July 29, 1959 and graduated from Edina-East H.S. in 1977. He was an All-State hockey player and went on to play for Herb Brooks’ 1978-79 Minnesota Gophers team that won the NCAA championship. Steve was also a standout golfer and qualified to play in the Minnesota State Amateur at the age of 14. His working career spanned various sales positions, golf course superintendent, and in the end, he was happiest as a house painter. Steve enjoyed playing all sports, doing crossword puzzles, spending time with his family, and being the funny guy at the party. He was most proud to be the dad of his little “Beeper,” Shannon. All who knew “Schmay” loved him. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Steve was preceded in death by his father William F. Pepper. He is survived by his mother Joan Jordet Pepper, daughter Shannon, former wife and Shannon’s mother, Laurie Leider Louwagie, brother Tom (Terri), sister Ann (Bob), and nieces Laura and Lindsay.
A celebration of Steve’s life will be held Tuesday, May 17, 2022. Visitation at 5:00 p.m., service at 6:00 p.m., at the Cremation Society of Minnesota, 7110 France Ave. South, Edina.
