Richard F. Wolf
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved Richard Wolf on Sunday April 24, 2022 at the age of 93. Complications from Dementia and Covid-19 contributed to his passing.
Born in Pittsville, WI, the youngest of 8 children and the last remaining member of his family. Richard leaves behind his wife Loretta (Taylor) of 71 years, 2 daughters Linda (Len) Helwig and Kathy(David Ritchie) Wolf; 3 grandchildren Jennifer (Josh) Larson, Lysa (Jason) Holmstrom, Michael (Amanda) Pratt, 8 great-grandchildren and many nephews, nieces, cousins and a few uncles.
Richard worked in the shipyards of Washington the state and later enlisted in the Navy at the age of 17 during WWII. While in the service he witnessed several practice drops of the nuclear bomb at Bikini Atoll in the Pacific Ocean. He had an Honorable Discharge in 1947, reenlisted in the reserves and had a final Honorable Discharge in 1955.
After he married Loretta they lived in Anchorage Alaska for 2 years and Minnesota for 69 years working as an electrician and welder. He was an animal and bird lover and liked watching animal shows on TV, being outside where he took his family hiking, boating and camping. He also loved to visit family in Wisconsin and tried to do so yearly.
Richard and Loretta also spent many hours bowling, riding motorcycle and snowmobiling. He will be missed by his wife, children, family and friends.
Richard was cremated and a private memorial service was held at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, Camp Ripley located in Little Falls Minnesota.
