Obituary of Geraldine "Geri" Allyn Johnson

Geraldine ‘Geri’ Allyn Johnson (nee Langeland), age 88 of Otsego, died on March 24, 2022.


She was born June 14, 1933 to Albert and Gerda (nee Ofstie) Langeland in St. Paul. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She enjoyed volunteering and crafting.


Geri graduated from Park High School in St. Paul Park and attended Globe College of Business.  She also took classes at the University of Minnesota and Lakewood Community College.


She married Robert E. Johnson on September 26, 1958 and they had two children. They made their home on the East Side of St. Paul until 2019 when they moved to Otsego, MN.


She worked for Mckesson Pharmaceutical as the secretary to the director, before taking time off to keep an eye on the two kids.  She went to work for St. Paul Public schools in 1970 as a Title One Assistant and worked at Mounds Park Junior High, Cleveland Junior High, and for 13 years at Boys Totem Town.  She retired in 1990.


She taught Sunday school at House of Hope Presbyterian Church.  She was a Brownie Girl Scout, Junior Girl Scout leader, and Cub Scout Den Mother for troops at Sheridan Elementary in St. Paul. Geri also volunteered at Minnesota History Center as a receptionist for several years.


Geri was a Life Member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha International Service and leadership organization.  She joined in 1964 and was active in the Beta Theta Chapter of Minnesota ESA.  She served as chapter president many times.  She served Minnesota ESA as a board officer and in 1993 as the State Council President.  


She is survived by her husband, daughter, Beth Zambino (Peter); son, David Johnson (Susan); grandchildren, Nicole Ramler (Justin), Kaylee Johnson, Tyler Zambino; great grandchildren Roxanne Ramler; Charlette Ramler; Hans Ramler; nephew, Norman Fitch; niece, Kathy Spearman and niece-in-law, Debbie Fitch.


Geri was preceded in death by parents, Albert and Gerda Langeland; sister, Marian Fitch and nephew, John Fitch.
