Obituary of Maurice E Johnston

Passed away on February 15, 2022, at the age of 74, to be with the love of his life.

Preceded in dead by his wife, Kathy; parents, Maurice and Marian Johnston; brother-in-law, Tom Des Champs.

Survived by brothers, Lenny (Sue), Herb (Cathy), Randy (Peggy); sister, Lynette Des Champs; brother-in-law, Mark Hartfiel (Robin), as well as cousins, nieces, nephews, godchildren and many friends.

He was born in Minneapolis and grew up in Crystal, graduating from Robbinsdale High School. He joined the US Navy in 1965 and was a Vietnam vet and served for four years. After his discharge he returned to Crystal and married Kathy on September 12, 1969. Marty and Kathy so enjoyed having their friends and family over for awesome parties. Marty was a member of the VFW and America Legion. He worked at Minnegasco (CenterPoint Energy) and retired in 2005. Marty enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson with family and friends. He also had a passion for classic cars.

Services will be held at the Cremation Society of Minnesota at 7835 Brooklyn Blvd, Brooklyn Park, MN 55445 on Friday, April 8th at 5:30 PM with visitation beginning at 5 PM. Interment will be at Fort Snelling with a celebration of Marty's life planned for this summer. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to donor's choice.
