Obituary of Wanda Joyce Theel
Wanda Joyce Theel died Monday, March 1, 2022, at the Zumbrota Care Center.
Wanda was born on April 10, 1932, in Mantorville to Clifford and Geneva Tvedt. She grew up in the Rochester area and met Dale Theel in 1948 in 4-H. She graduated from Stewartville High School on June 2, 1950. Wanda and Dale were married on June 24, 1950, in Rochester and they moved to Babbitt in 1955. In 1961, they bought property in Embarrass and built a home and a farm.
Wanda was very dedicated to her family, friends, and church, the Assembly of God in Babbitt. She was in charge of the Cradle Roll Department, taught Sunday School, and helped with vacation Bible school in the summers for many years.
Wanda was always busy, raising six children, doing farm chores, cooking, gardening, sewing, canning – when something needed to be done, Wanda was always there to help. She also loved to do crafts, such as ceramics, embroidering, plastic canvas, card making, and other crafts. She gave many of her crafts as gifts to family and friends.
In later years, Dale and Wanda spent winters in Florida in the bus that they had converted into a motor home. They loved the warm weather while meeting new and old friends, sightseeing, and finding seashells. Wanda was a very kindhearted, caring woman who was loved by so many.
She is survived by her children, Robert (Tammy) Theel of Wanamingo, Dean (Jean) Theel of Nenana, Alaska, Toni Theel (daughter-in-law) of Embarrass, Sharon (Paul) Foster of Utica, Julie Robinson (Rueben Scheffler) of Zumbrota, Annette (Steve) Nicholas of Prior Lake; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren; sister Eileen (Gordon) Westphal; and brothers Clayton Tvedt and Ken (Betty) Tvedt.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dale, son Danny, and grandchildren Dale, Dayle Ann, Geoffrey, Jody, and Sam.
A funeral service will be on March 19 at 1 p.m. at Minneola Lutheran Church, 13628 County 50 Blvd, Goodhue, with Pastor Hanna Bergstrom de Leon officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at 1 p.m. on June 25 at Argo Cemetery in Babbitt with Pastor Ben Morgan officiating.
