Obituary of Steven Edward Wright
Steven Edward Wright, born January 26, 1948, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2022. He is survived by his wife of 44-plus years, Barbara Jean [Gamer]; children Jessica, Nathan, Chad, Jeffery, RJ and Mark; grandchildren Ana, Ian, Parker, Azrael, Jessica and Jacob; siblings Calvin [Pamela], Roger [Jennifer], Elizabeth [Ronald Wahlert], Charlotte [Eli], Charlott [Kurt Bottorff] and Barbara [Donald Fitzgerrald]; and many nieces and nephews. Steven graduated high school in St. Joseph, Missouri. He immediately volunteered for military service, enlisting in the United States Marine Corps, where he served in Vietnam, Washington D.C., and was a heavy equipment teacher in North Carolina. He attained the rank of Sargeant (E-5) before his honorable discharge and received the Navy Commendation Medal as a Combat Engineer while serving in Vietnam. After his service for our country, Steve embarked on his lifelong career as a cowboy (but without a horse), working for 40-plus years for Haas Livestock until his retirement. He will be missed by many and will be remembered for his honestly, sense of humor, kindness to children and animals, stoicism and strength, and as a steadfast and loving husband, father and grandfather.
A celebration of Steven's life will be planned and held in the future. Memorials are preferred to the charitable institution of the donor's choosing.
