Obituary of Rodney Lee Pitsch
Pitsch, Rodney Lee, Age 78 of Golden Valley, MN, passed away peacefully on 1/24/2022 at Fairview Southdale Hospital with his wife, Maureen by his side.
Rod will be deeply missed by his wife, family & friends; he was a beloved husband, father, brother, & family man.
Rod was preceded in death by Parents, Harold & Janette (Wolfe) and brother, Philip. Survived by his wife, Maureen Murphy-Pitsch, brother Larry (Barbara), sister-in-law Shari, daughters: Michele, Kari (Rich) Righetti, Angela (Terry Brown) and son, Mark, 6 grandchildren: Davis, Danielle, Haidyn, Ava, Gracey and Theodore and many nieces and nephews.
Rod was born on December 27, 1943 in Chippewa Falls, WI and grew up on a dairy farm in Jim Falls, WI. ("Rod can do anything - he grew up on a farm!") Rod graduated from Chippewa Falls High School in 1962 where he enjoyed playing football and baseball. Rod received his MBA from the University of Wisconsin- Madison, 1967.
No surprise that Rod was an avid Badger and Packer fan and recently, a proud owner of a "share" of the Packers! Rod loved the game of baseball and in his youth he would listen to the Chicago Cubs games on the crackling radio and keep stats for the games! Forever a Cubs Fan! He continued his passion for the game by playing in High School, Town Ball, 1 year at UW Lacrosse.
Rod married Carol (Lauer) in 1965 and they had 3 daughters.
Rod moved to the Twin Cities to begin his career as a CPA with the Touche Ross accounting firm. Once he found time to coach he did so for several years with the Babe Ruth Baseball League in New Hope! Later, when his daughters were in school, Rod was elected to serve as President on the School Board for the Mound Westonka School District for two terms.
Rod's professional career continued to be fulfilling, exciting and varied after he left Touche Ross with tenure at El Dorado Industries, Ewald Bros. Dairy, PVC Pitsch Pipe Products, Lakeshore Interiors, Advanced Telcom, and for the last 30 years, Current Technology, Inc. He was a gracious recipient of being named a Friend of the APTA Section on Womens' Health. Rod was always thankful for the friends he made with co-workers, suppliers, and customers.
Rod married Maureen Murphy April 9, 1994 and they had 1 son.
Rod was able to fuel his passion for baseball once again when Mark had the same affinity for the game! There are many great memories with Rod coaching for Golden Valley Little League!
Rod loved to ski out west with family & friends; favorites were the big burn in Aspen and
Jackson Hole. Rod greeted each day with positive gusto and a love for life! Spending time with family for holidays, projects and grandchildren's sporting events kept the "energizer bunny" very busy! Weekends at the Murphy cabin, camping trips, walks, bike rides, campfires in the backyard fire-pit, playing cards and dice games provided every-day vacations!
Rod was a loving, kind and gentle man and will be in our hearts forever.
Memorial Service will be held on April 29, 11:00 am with visitation at 10:00 am
