James "Jim" Lawrence Sullivan
James Sullivan, 92, died Saturday, February 19, 2022 at his home, Fellowship Manor in Shakopee.
James was survived by his wife, Carla; his sister Mary; his children; Pat (Judy) Sullivan, Linda (Jerry) Schaffer, Kathleen (Keven) Dopp, Colleen (Dennis) Pederson and John Sullivan. His grand-children; Duane, Dale (Julie), Jill (Jeff), Jason, Corey, Daniel (Faith), Jessica (Luke), Reed, Kiann, Sean (Amber), Dustin (Danielle), Brandon (Mary) and Raelyn. Great grand-children; Kaylee, Nathan, Clara, Casey, Josie, Hallie, Avarie, Gavin, Cayden, Fynn James, Kali, Kendall, Casey, Jack James, Hudson, Livia and Jaxon He is preceded in death by his first wife; Donna Sullivan, his sister; June, his brother-in-law; John, his two sons; Mike & Scot Sullivan, his daughter in-law; Cindy Sullivan and his great-grandson; Landon Orndoff.
Born to Lawrence and Esther Sullivan on November 24, 1929 in South Minneapolis. Jim attended Hiawatha Grade School, Sanford Middle School and Roosevelt/South High School. At 15, Jim joined MN State Guard for Basic Training and drill at the Armory for 2 years. At 17, joined the U.S. Army followed by 13 weeks of Bootcamp. Jim was sent to Korea where he spent the remainder of his time in the service. At 20, Jim found his bride Donna May Grenier. Together they had 7 children, 4 boys and 3 girls. Jim's 7 children were his biggest blessings in life! His fondest memories are driving with his kids to visit his parent's house in Theif River Falls. Jim was one of three children. Sisters include; June and surviving sister Mary.
Jim owned a company called Sullivan Fruit and Produce for years. Jim worked along side with 2 of his sons. He also shared a partnership with other fruit companies manufacturing salads/fixings.
James was a devoted Father, Grandfather, Great-Grand Father, Uncle, Brother and Friend. He loved fishing and spending quality time at his lake home where he made countless, unforgettable memories with his kids and grandkids for many years! Jim especially loved hunting with his dad, Lawrence and brother-in-law, John Kumpula. Jim loved playing/watching all sports. Jim really had a love for golf which he was able to enjoy playing with his Pals every Sunday. As he got older, he enjoyed being able to watch his favorite sport on TV, most importantly the PGA Tour! Jim enjoyed old country western movies in his spare time. We will forever remember Grandpa Jim's witty humor, contagious laugh, love for knick-knacks and gift of life. May you rest in Eternal Paradise, Papa "Sittin' on the Dock of the Bay."
A burial service will be held this spring at Fort Snelling.
