Obituary of Lucas Carl Lingenfelter

Lucas Carl Lingenfelter (43) of Brooklyn Park, MN, passed away on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at North Memorial Hospital in Minneapolis, MN.

Luke was born in Punxsutawney on January 23, 1979. He attended Punxsutawney Area High School and graduated with the class of 1997. He served 14 years as a Technical Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force as an air traffic controller. His service included two tours of duty in Iraq and one in Turkey. After leaving the Air Force, Luke joined Canadian Pacific Railways as a train dispatcher for 7 years before being promoted to director of dispatching.

An avid outdoorsman, Luke enjoyed hunting, fishing trips on his boat, and mountain biking. He was a fitness enthusiast and enjoyed working out. He also enjoyed watching football and was a dedicated Steelers fan. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends whenever he could. He was great on the grill and often hosted backyard barbeques. Luke had a heart of gold and will be remembered for his kindness and great sense of humor. He was a wonderful Dad and an amazing friend to so many.

Luke is survived by his parents, Carl Lingenfelter, of Punxsutawney, and Paula Lingenfelter, of Punxsutawney; a son, Jesaiah Lingenfelter, and mother Talitha Meyer of Sacramento, CA; a daughter, Zoey Lingenfelter, and mother Mandy Smith of Minneapolis, MN; girlfriend Elle Houck Kampa and daughter Kyla of Minneapolis, MN; siblings, Erin Myers and husband Skeet of Cullowhee, NC, and Jodi Shaffer and husband Rich of Punxsutawney; aunts and uncles, Mary Coleman, of Punxsutawney, Edward Lingenfelter of Punxsutawney, Laura Harris and husband John of Ottawa, KS, Jennifer Velando, of Houston, TX, Mike Weaver and wife Rose, of Punxsutawney, Evan Weaver of Punxsutawney, and Matt Weaver and wife Tina of Punxsutawney; cousins, Christine Davis, Billy Becker, Courtney Neal, Whitney Vassallo, Neil Weaver, Kellen Harris, Alex Velando, Cristina Crespo, Isaac Velando, Claudia Culbertson, Natasha Vaughn, John Weaver, and Daniel Weaver; and nieces and nephews, Grey Micah, Melody Myers, Bailey Shaffer, and Riley Shaffer.

Luke was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, William Lingenfelter, and Margaret Lingenfelter, and maternal grandparents Raymond and Norma Weaver, as well as his uncle Rickey Lingenfelter. Luke was greeted in Heaven by his dogs Gracie and Nina.

Family and friends are invited to gather in celebration of Luke’s life from 1-4pm on Saturday, March 12 in the First Baptist Church social hall in Punxsutawney. A memorial service will be held in the sanctuary at 4pm with Pastor Mike Wilbur officiating. Interment will follow at Circle Hill Cemetery Veteran’s Plot with a full military honors ceremony.

As a registered organ donor, Luke has given renewed life to 3 people with his kidneys and liver. He has also given his tissue, heart valves and eyes which will help 80 people over the next 5 years.
