Obituary of William Lynn Dunlop
Dunlop, William “Bill” Lynn, age 78 passed away on Wednesday, February 16 surrounded by his family members. Bill was born on June 24, 1943 in Rolla, North Dakota, the second son of Anne (Nerpel) and Orin Dunlop (deceased). He is survived by his spouse Patricia “Pat,” sons Aaron (Natalie) and Stephen (Amy), grandchildren Norah and Liza, William and Tom; Siblings Jon (Maryann), Janice (Don) Jungling, Robert (Johanna), Les (Doreen, deceased), and Charles (Sharon).
Bill was a graduate of North Dakota State University in Civil Engineering and worked as a Forensic Engineering Consultant for 40 years. He was an avid NDSU Bison football fan and enjoyed the many family gatherings surrounding the NDSU national championship games.
Bill enjoyed everything outdoors. He was an avid cyclist, cross-country skier, camper and traveler. He also enjoyed projects that involved building and woodworking. He was an open, intellectually thoughtful personality who sought out people of diverse viewpoints to engage in conversation and befriend.
A celebration of life service will be held on March 5, 2022 at 11 a.m. at the Cremation Society of Minnesota 7110 France Avenue, Edina, MN. Visitation is at 10 a.m. and a light lunch will follow. A gathering of family and friends will take place in July in Rolla, North Dakota for interment. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his honor to the Union Gospel Mission, www.ugmtc.org.
