Riopelle, Robert J. age 102, of Richfield. Survived by his loving children, John, Thomas (Kathleen), Renee Houlehan (Richard Carter), and Jeanne Doll; grandchildren, Kelly (Daniel) Vinihan, James Houlehan II; Andrew (Liz) and Michael Doll; brothers Jim, Wayne (Donna), and sisters Shirley, Lyla, Mary Lou, Katherine Ann, sister-in-law Kath; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving & caring wife of 65 years, Freda, his parents, Ernest and Lyla Riopelle, and his brothers Llewelyn and Lowell (Lillian) and sister Gwen (Jack). As a loving husband and father, Bob will be remembered for his kindness and giving spirit. Born in Marquette, Michigan, he met the love of his life, Freda Grant, at an WWII Army USO dance in Louisiana. He served in Europe, where he received the Bronze Star. After the war, they moved to Michigan, where his lifelong career with the Railroad began. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, traveling, the outdoors, and had a special passion for Christmas and ice cream. He was active in Rotary, Toastmasters and Assumption Catholic Church. A Celebration of Life with immediate family will be held at a time yet to be determined. In lieu of flowers, please direct memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association or Masonic Charities.
