Obituary of Aura Rachel Maki

Aura Rachel Maki, age 98, passed away on February 3, 2022 at Essentia Health Hospice in Duluth. 

She was born on September 29, 1923, in Duluth to Ida and John Makinen.  As a child, she moved with her family to Humppila, Finland, to help with the family farm, and remained there until 1947, when she moved back to Duluth and worked at 3M and Koito Boarding House.  Soon after, she married Eino and together raised their family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eino; sister, Esther Kyromaki; and granddaughter, Jill Ahlgren.

She is survived by her daughters, Marla Ahlgren (Bruce), Arlene Theye (Thomas), Linda Shehan (Dub Rogers) and son, Thomas Maki (Roberta); grandchildren, Angela Ahlgren, Jonathan Ahlgren, Robin Kuhn (Michael), Matthew Theye; great-grandchildren, Aili Huhta , Kai Huhta, and Wyatt Kuhn.

A private memorial service will be held in the Spring.  Arrangements by the Cremation Society of Minnesota Duluth.
