Obituary of Amy Nancy Linker
With profound sadness we announce the passing of our mother, Amy Linker, on January 27, 2022. She was a loving and devoted mother and a friend to all those whose lives she touched. She left us while resting peacefully surrounded by family and many of the staff at Ebenezer Arbor Lane Memory Care in Burnsville, Minnesota.
Amy, better known as Mary to her family and friends, was the daughter of Zeph and Theresa Walker and the sister to six siblings: Kenneth, Jeanette, Martin, Evelyn, Vonna, and Flora. In the first eleven years of her life, she witnessed incredible changes to her world: the Great Depression, the sudden death of her father, and a second world war. Despite all this hardship, she never gave up and she never gave in. She instead developed a positive attitude, shared her capacity to love unconditionally, and focused her attention on being an extraordinary individual.
After the war ended, she met Bill Linker and they married in 1949. They were together for 72 years, until he passed away in 2021. She raised nine children: Mark (Vickey), Joel (Mary), Kent (Penny), Curt (Jean), Todd (Barbra), Beth (Warren), Anne (Randy), Susan (Richard), and Eric (Cathie). She was a proud “Grandma Linker” to her numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She lovingly gave us her undivided attention, staunchly defended us, and eagerly told everyone that she was our mother. We returned the sentiment. We told everyone that she was the source for our encouragement, the origin for our inspiration, and the greatest supporter for anything we wanted to achieve. She had a wonderful sense of humor. It's been said that a mother is an angel in training, but our mother has always been an angel and she will remain one eternally. It’s an understatement to say that she will be missed.
She is survived by her children and her sister, Evelyn, and was additionally preceded in death by her infant daughters, Mary and Margaret, and her grandson, David. Although a private celebration of her life will be held in June, donations can be sent today to Ebenezer Arbor Lane Memory Care at 13810 Community Drive, Burnsville, MN 55337.
