Obituary of LeRoy M. Gage

LeRoy M. Gage, born on May 30, 1933 in Minneapolis Minnesota, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2021 at the age of 88 years.

LeRoy served his country faithfully in Navy for 28 years, achieving the rank of Master Chief.  He was also a public servant for 10+ years, working for the City of Minneapolis in the water department in Fridley, MN.

One of LeRoy’s passion projects included the restoration of a 1947 Mercury Club Coupe. Restoring it from the bare frame all the way to completion.  He was a voracious reader, loving mysteries and reading about ancient Egypt and often sending letters of disagreements to various publications. He also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles.  

Another passion of LeRoy’s was woodworking. He made rocking horses for all of his grandchildren and also donated many of his creations to Toys for Tots and a friend’s Christmas boutique, where they quickly sold out! From games to flower presses, Adirondack chairs, and many, many more different items. LeRoy was also a Twins and Vikings fan and spent some time researching his genealogy.

Preceded in death by, mother, Christine Steine, Father Franklin Gage, brothers, Robert, Jerry, John, Leonard and Herbert and sister, Alice.

Survived by Wife of 66 years, Marlys, son, Scott Gage, daughter Linnea Gage and her husband, Joseph Stoner.  Grandchildren, Joseph Gage and wife Lisa, Emily Gage, Lucas Gage and wife Crystal; bonus grandsons, Kevin and Brent Stoner, Brent’s wife, Jennifer and 5 Great Grandchildren, Ella, Adelyn, bonus great’s Jacob, Maxwell, and Benjamin Stoner.

Memorials preferred to Grace Lutheran Church, in Apple Valley, MN. 

Visitation will be Saturday, March 12th, at 9:00 am at Grace Lutheran Church, 7800 150th St. W, Apple Valley, MN 55124.

Service will follow visitation at 10:00 am.

Private burial will be held at Fort Snelling at a future date.
