Obituary of John S. Harris
John Harris passed away on Dec. 17 at the age of 62. Born in St. Paul on June 9, 1959, son of Bob and Mary Harris, John was the big brother to two sisters, Barb and Nancy. John attended Annunciation School and Academy of the Holy Angels, and trained to work in electrical engineering. He worked in the manufacturing field of custom electrical panels for many years, most recently, with PTS Products. He was a highly skilled, dedicated and hard worker.
During high school, he worked as a cook at Curran’s, his Uncle Mike’s restaurant in Minneapolis. There, he met his future wife, Karen. Married for 40 years, Karen and John have two sons, Stephen and Christopher.
John loved Twins baseball and Star Trek, fishing at his Wisconsin retreat, listening to live music, hanging out with friends and family, reading a good mystery, and enjoying a cup of coffee or a craft beer. He was a great cook, learned from his days at Curran’s. He and Karen did a lot of house and yard projects at their Bloomington home.
John had a huge smile, a big laugh, and was a gentle and kind person. He will be greatly missed by his family, sisters, in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and coworkers.
John is survived by his wife, Karen, and sons Stephen and Christopher. He also is survived by his sisters, Barb Buckner (Bob) and Nancy Driessen (Jerry); and brothers-in-law Steve Nye (Darlene) and Mike Nye (Cindy), and sister-in-law Evelyn Lee-Jensen (Dustin). He was uncle to David Buckner (Jenna); Brian Buckner (Tanya); Andy Buckner; Jackie Duggan (Ben); Nick, Leo and Will Driessen; Loretta and Ben Nye; Zachary Peter-Nye; Amanda Davis (Matt), Charles Lee (Jessica), Raymond Lee and Becky Lee; and great uncle to Riley and Nora Davis; Catherine Duggan; Theo Bucker; and Sebastian Buckner.
A memorial service will be held at Edina Cremation Society of MN, 7110 France Ave. S., on Wednesday, Dec. 29, 1:00 pm, with visitation for one hour before the service, and interment at the Bloomington Cemetery. Memorials to donor’s choice.
May John rest in peace.
