Obituary of Carl A. Sundquist

Carl A. Sundquist, 80 of Coon Rapids, MN took the December 1, 2021 9:48 am fast train out to heaven.  He joins his parents, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Born August 1, 1941 in Pine City, MN. He attended high school, married, and settled in Vadnais Heights, MN.

Carl spent his life dedicated to service. He was an original member of the Vadnais Heights Fire Department; spent his career at Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) as a Special Agent Police officer. BSNF took him from MN to Washington State in 1986; he returned to MN upon retirement.

Carl loved his family and friends and looked forward to opportunities to chat, tell jokes and long stories, drink coffee and play a competitive game of cribbage. He always had a firm hug or handshake to send you on your way.

He enjoyed panning for gold in the rivers of Washington State.  He would walk the shores of the pacific and the lakes of MN with a metal detector in his hand to find treasures. He loved to tell long stories and sometimes lame jokes, watch the Vikings in their rebuilding years and play golf or a round of pool. His biggest treasure was being a fan of his family and friends, keeping in touch with them whether they were in Minnesota, Missouri, Washington, Wyoming, California, Wisconsin, or Sweden.

Carl is survived by his former wife, Falline; Children: Ken, Kay (John), Kelly (Rick), Kaela. He adored his grandchildren: Jeff (Megan), Alexandra, Adam, Amy, Johnny, Amber, Anthony, and Austin (Madi) and two great grandchildren: Elliott and Nora.   The family will gather to share a private prayer service.

A Celebration of life will be held on December 21st at one of Carl's favorite establishments. Carl's wish was to have an "actual celebration" where people could get together, share stories, laughs and a toast.

It will be held December 21st 2:00-5:00 pm at Stacy Sports Grill, 6007 Stacy Trail, Stacy, MN 55079.

Psalm 16:11

Thou wilt shew me the path of life; in thy presence is fullness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures forevermore.
