Obituary of Delores Wietzema

Delores Wietzema was born on September 28, 1942, to Edward and Regina (Popowski)  Shalek  in Hendricks, Minnesota.  

She was a lifelong resident of Tyler and an active member of the St. Dionysius Catholic Church.  She loved family, plants and gardening, eagles, her dog and talking. Delores (DeeDee or Dee) loved talking, telling stories, and laughing.

Delores was a resident of the St. Benedict Home and then Edenbrook in St. Cloud  and died on November 23, 2021, at the age of 79 years, 1 month and 25 days. Delores passed away from Covid-19, although she had been slowly slipping away from dementia.

Delores is survived by her sister Joanne Allen of Laguna Beach, CA; her  children, Brenda (Bob) Baune of Fridley, MN (Travis, Melisa and Kaila); Lisa Birchfield of Charlotte, NC (Jessica & Henry: Alex, Ella and Owen) and Jason; Roxane (Greg) Davis of Elk River, MN (Adam, Erin and Isabel); Darrien Mickelson (Lynne) of Jonesboro, AR (Lindsey:Penelope, Hunter and Chase) and many relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Denny; sisters Linda and Harriet, and her faithful, loving dog Harley.

Funeral services will be held on December 20, 2021 at 1pm, mass will be at St. Dionysius Church in Tyler MN. Visitation will be one hour prior at the church. Burial will follow mass at the St. Dionysius Catholic cemetery in Tyler MN. Lunch to follow at the church after internment.
