Obituary of Peter Joseph Herlofsky Jr.

Herlofsky Jr., Peter Joseph – Age 77, died peacefully at home on November 10, 2021.  He married Georgene Herlofsky (Roback) on January 15, 1966.  Peter got his B.A. from the U of MN and Master’s from the U of IL.   He worked for Minneapolis, Fridley, Crystal, Rice County, Stearns County, Yanbu, Saudi Arabia, Champaign County, IL, Calhoun County, MI, Crow Wing County and Farmington, before retiring.  Peter was preceded in death by his parents, Lorraine and Peter, and is survived by his wife Georgene, his son, Peter (Nicole) and daughter Susan (Geoff Isaacman); his siblings, William Herlofsky (Hitomi), Carol Klein (Maury), Paul (Deb), Mary Larson (Jamie), Luanne Kordiak (Tom); grandchildren, to whom he always said yes, Peter IV, Alexander, Samuel, Anya and Isabella.

Peter spent his lifetime at Waite Park in NE Mpls, and many other parks/rinks with his siblings, friends, children and grandchildren playing, hockey, football, baseball, soccer and tennis.  He also volunteered and coached many teams.  He was grateful for many of his co-workers and work which gave him an opportunity to travel and see the world, favoring Greece, Egypt, Turkey and Alaskan Cruise.  Peter also treasured his Arizona trips with friends.

Peter truly came to life as a grandparent.  With many trips to the Minnesota Zoo, playing soccer, likely pitching thousands of balls, playing tennis, attending birthday parties, school events and always being up for a sleepover.  Peter taught us life lessons, showed us how to be decision-makers and how to be accountable for choices.  Dad taught us to live fully, love deeply and laugh everyday. He was loved and he will be missed, but even though he has left us on this earth, he will never leave our hearts. 

We will honor Peter on Friday, November 26, 2021 with visitation at 10:00 a.m., service at 11:00 a.m. and reception to follow, at the Cremation Society of MN, 7110 France Avenue, Edina, MN 55435.  Please attend only if vaccinated, and masks are required.
