Obituary of Timothy LeRoy Crooks
Timothy Leroy Crooks was born July 27, 1942, in Sisseton SD to Melvin and Beatrice Crooks, and grew up and attended school in Peever. He married Avis Wren on August 30, 1958, then moved to Minneapolis in 1963.
Tim worked as a self- employed carpenter, and also at National Mower, Midwest Window, and Bernard Dalsin Sheet Metal. Tim and Avis raised three children – Colleen, Timothy, and Rodney – and have been members of Park Avenue United Methodist Church for over 50 years.
Tim loved fishing, hunting, golfing, playing softball and camping and RVing with his family. The family traveled extensively in the United States, He and Avis took twelve trips abroad. He loved all babies, being a dad, and especially loved being a grandpa. His grandkids adore him.
In 2005 Tim had back surgery and became confined to a wheelchair. That didn’t slow him down. He was an avid Twins fan and had season tickets. (He was “Circled by Bert” when he was 72 and won the lottery ticket at the game!)
Tim is survived by wife Avis, daughter Colleen, sons Timothy and Rodney (Colleen), grandsons Travis, Erik, and Alex, brothers Richard and Larry (Lucille), and sisters Patty Davidson, Vonnie Lehrke, Shirley Froidevaux, Judy Crooks (Diana), and Cindy (David) Argo. Tim was preceded in death by his parents Melvin and Beatrice Crooks, brother Tony (died at birth), sister Kathy brothers-in-law Dale, Dick and Harold.
He passed on peacefully with family by his side on October 30, 2021, at the age of 79.
Celebration of life is 11:00am November 13, 2021, at Park Avenue United Methodist Church, 3400 Park Avenue Minneapolis MN. A graveside service will be held in the Spring of 2022 in Peever, South Dakota.
