Obituary of Charlotte P. Morse
Charlotte P. Morse (nee Painter) died Oct. 24 at age 95, surrounded by loving family. Charlotte encouraged young people’s growth, not with tiresome admonishments but with encouragements to embrace all that life had to offer. She was known for her expansive dining-room table (which always had room for one more) and for all that it had to offer. Her gourmet cooking skills nourished mind and body and inspired a new generation of cooks. Charlotte’s open-door spirit was supported and shared by her husband of 70 years, Charles E. Morse, who preceded her in death by two years. Together, they raised four children in Bloomington on a hilltop near Bush Lake and created a safe space and “home away from home” for dozens of young people. Together, they suffered the loss of four infants from genetic disorders, a loss that amplified the unconditional love they had for all the children in their care. Charlotte was a special-ed teacher for Bloomington public schools and a community-builder, active with the League of Women Voters, Bloomington Civic Theater, Bloomington Human Rights Commission, AAUW and Izaak Walton League. She is survived by children Helen (Paul) Olson, Charles (Julie) Morse, Elizabeth (William) Boyle, and John (Sundae) Morse; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Celebration of life Sunday, February 20th, 2022, 2 pm - 5 pm Cremation Society, 7110 France Ave. S., Edina, MN 55435. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to Minnesota Indian Women’s Resource Center, miwrc.org.
