Nancy Jean Christensen, 84, passed away surrounded by her family.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Gene; her children, Jill, Jennifer and Eric; her grandchildren, Tony, Angel, Brenda, Max, Paige, Katie and Kennedy; 21 great grandchildren.
Nancy was born on January 22, 1937 in Chicago, IL to Maria and Arne Leander. She had one sibling, Arne Jr. Nancy graduated from Hitch High School.
Nancy was united in marriage to Raymond R. Raffel in 1956, they were blessed with three children. Her greatest joy was raising her children and being a wife and homemaker. The family relocated to Stillwater, MN in 1969. Nancy went to work as a secretary at the local school once Eric was older. Her marriage to Ray ended in divorce. Nancy married Gene and they lived in White Bear Lake. She was employed as a secretary for Washington County which she adored and ultimately retired from.
As a young girl, Nancy enjoyed playing piano and dancing en pointe. Her days as a young wife and mother in Chicago were filled with sewing, baking, her family and being the hostess with the mostess. Later in life she enjoyed gardening, camping, traveling and spending time with her beloved grandchildren. She took tremendous pride in her home.
Tragically, Nancy suffered from Alzheimers and spent her last years in a nursing home. She will always be remembered as a beautiful and classy mother, wife and grandmother. She loved us dearly and she will be greatly missed.
A Celebration of Life will take place at the Bayport Nature Center in Bayport, MN (1215 Inspiration Pkwy S, Bayport MN 55003) on Saturday, November 13th 2021 at 10am.
