Obituary of Joseph G. Economy
Joseph (Joe) G. Economy, passed away Monday, November 1st in Duluth, at Solvay House. Born December 15, 1933, he was 87 years old.
He attended St. Clements and St. Jean de Baptiste schools. He joined the US Air Force in January 1951 and was a Korean War Vet. He worked for 5 different local railroads spending over 41 years with the DM&IR, NP, Soo Line, DW&P, and LS&I (that by name do not exist anymore). He was a member of the American Legion and the Owls Club. He loved fishing at his cabin on Boulder Lake and his great neighbors. Many thanks to Solvay House for the compassionate care they provided.
Joe is survived by his wife, Vivian; his brother Norman Sr., and children: David (Jan) of Esko, John (Cindy) of Woodbury, Patti (Ron) Carlberg of Cloquet, Lori (Roland) Scholler, of Carver, Peggie (Jay deceased) Mattsfield of White Bear Lake; 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents John and Marie; brothers James and Douglas; and sisters Irene and Karen.
Memorial visitation will be Saturday, November 20th, at 12:00 PM and funeral service at 1:00 PM at Salem Lutheran Church, 4715 Hermantown Rd, Hermantown, MN. 55811. Memorials to Salem Lutheran Church or Solvay House (Miller-Dawn Foundation). Masks required.
