Obituary of Jeffrey Leonard Aho

Jeffrey Leonard Aho, 72 of Two Harbors, Minnesota, passed away surrounded by family and his dogs on October 18, 2021 after a year- long battle with lung cancer.

 

Jeffrey was the only child of John and Mamie (Autio) Aho and a 1967 graduate of Two Harbors High School. After high school, Jeff joined the Navy where he was part of reconnaissance efforts in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged from the Navy in July 1972. He worked for the Finland Air Force Base and the Duluth Air Base until they closed, then began a career with the Department of Justice at the Duluth Federal Prison where he was the pipe fitter foreman for almost 26 years. Once he retired from the Duluth Federal Prison, he began his new role as the Finn Fisherman. Jeffrey enjoyed hunting, softball, volleyball, fishing and being a grandpa.

 

Jeffrey is survived by his children, Elizabeth (Jon) Peterson of Duluth and Michael of Hilliard, OH, his grandson James and his granddaughters Addyson and Abbygail.

 

His family would like to thank the doctors and staff at St. Luke's Regional Cancer Center, the doctors and nurses that tended to him during this past year in the hospital and at his appointments, St. Luke's Hospice and Home Care team, The Cremation Society, Minnesota Veterans Cemetery, and Veterans Services.

 

Services will be held on Friday, November 5th, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery located at 4777 US Highway 53 in Saginaw, MN. Following the service a gathering to celebrate Jeff's life will take place at the Fairfield hotel located at 1510 Maple Grove Rd, Duluth, MN 55811 from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
