Obituary of Jahzlin Alanea Taylor-Henderson

Jahzlin “Jahzi” Alanea Taylor-Henderson, 31, of Minneapolis passed away unexpectedly in her home on October 11th, 2021. 

Jahzi was a loving mother, daughter, sister, aunt, granddaughter, niece, cousin, and friend. Jahzi found the most joy spending time and sharing laughter with her loved ones. Jahzi was extremely excited to be a mother. Most of her free time was spent in the company of her daughter, mother, siblings, and friends. She enjoyed picnics and nature walks with Ajah regularly. Jahzi’s beautiful bohemian spirit and smile to match will be greatly missed by many. 

Jahzi was born February 21st, 1990 to Erika Taylor in Minneapolis. Jahzi graduated from DeLaSalle High School in 2008, then attended Dillard University in New Orleans, LA. After falling in love with the beautiful city of New Orleans, Jahzi resided there for 8 years before making her way back to Minneapolis. 

As the oldest of 6, Jahzi was a extremely family oriented and loved spending time with her siblings, family, and friends. Jahzi would do anything for her loved ones and was the epitome of a true friend.

Jahzi welcomed her baby girl, Ajah into this world in 2017 and shared immeasurable love and excitement with motherhood. 

Jahzi survived by her daughter, Ajah Taylor; mother, Erika Taylor; (step) father, Tyrone Mattson; grandparents, Sam and Carol Taylor, and Laurie Mattson; sisters, Imahni and Creole Taylor, and brothers TJ, Canaan, and Isaiah Mattson and Jermail Thomas. Niece, Rosa Neuse. Aunts, Jocelyn Henderson, Talisha (Jacob) Price, and Tyeesha Mattson; uncles, Iam (Lauren) Taylor, Charles (Lisa) Henderson; great-uncle Frank and great-aunt Barb Taylor. Cousins that were like aunts and uncles, Rod Taylor, Tonya (Stuart-Selseth) Taylor, Danelle (John Gair)Taylor. Friends Raven Cain, Cyntelle Renteria, Careese Chivers, Rachel Mulari, Shoree Pierce-Ingram, Makini Foluke, and Adrianna Landry; and countless other cousins, family members, and friends. 

Jahzi was joined in the afterlife with her aunt, Connie Taylor, and (biological) father Alan Henderson.

A Celebration of Life service is scheduled on Saturday, October 30th, 1:00-3:00 wake, 3:00-4:00 service. First Memorial Waterston Chapel located at 4343 Nicollet Ave. South, Mpls, MN
