Obituary of Kay Gibson Fellows
Kay Gibson Fellows
May 26 1940 – October 20 2021
After a 10+ month struggle with breast cancer, Kay was surrounded by family in her last days and passed away in her apartment at Stonecrest Retirement facility. Kay was born and raised in Ames Iowa. She graduated from Ames High School. While she lived in various cities briefly, she spent a majority of her adult life in Minnetonka, where she was active with her children’s activities and with her church. She loved and cared for her family, neighbors and friends. Kay cared deeply for her children’s friends as well. It was not unusual for one of Patti or Jim’s friends to be living at the house while they were sorting out their own lives. She loved being a Grandma, and had fun creating specialty birthday cakes and spending time making gingerbread houses with her grandsons every Thanksgiving.
Kay spent a majority of her career working at Musicland as the Executive Secretary to the Vice President of Entertainment. During her tenure there, she was able to meet, and have photos taken with many famous musicians that visited Musicland. Some of her favorites were Neil Diamond, Garth Brooks and James Taylor. Soon after she retired, she moved to Woodbury to be closer to her children and grandchildren.
Kay is preceded in death by her parents Cleo and Betty Gibson. She is survived by her children Patti (Michael) and Jim (Jennifer). Grandmother to four, Andy and Joey Lindberg, Nick and Grace Grados. She is also survived by her brother Dick (Suzi) Gibson. Her family Christmas get-togethers will be remembered by her 4 nieces and their families.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to Optage Hospice for their kind and tender care of Kay in her last months. Mass of Christian burial will be held at Saint Ambrose Catholic community 4125 Woodbury Dr, Woodbury, MN 55129 on Thursday October 28th at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be held one hour prior. Memorials are preferred to Optage Hospice at https://www.optage.org/donations/
