Obituary of Daniel E Elsen

Elsen, Daniel E. (Dan) age 72 of Minneapolis passed away on October 5, 2021 at the Minneapolis VA hospital after a month-long courageous battle against Covid. Beloved husband and partner to Lisa Leutem and cherished father of Zenebe. Preceded in death by his parents Marvin and Maryalyce, infant sister "Little" Maryalyce, brother Dave and sister Nancy. Survived by his wife Lisa, daughter Zenebe, siblings; Ron (Sue), Jean (Dave), Rick (Lynn), Judy (Craig) and numerous nieces, nephews, In-laws, cousins and friends.

Dan will be remembered for his strong, calm, and contemplative presence as well as his quick sarcastic wit. He had many roles and interests over the course of his 72 years; carpenter, garage band guitar player, Army Green Beret in Vietnam, political organizer, flamenco guitar aficionado and player, avid golfer, and outdoor enthusiast, to name a few. He was a loving, caring, and supportive beloved husband to Lisa and cherished dad to Zenebe. As a brother and uncle he was the rock, the strength, and the wisdom all wrapped in unassuming love. He held his family close. Dan was also a great friend to many across all facets of his life.

A celebration of life will be held at Lake Monster Brewing (550 Vandalia St #160, St Paul, MN 55114) on Sunday, October 24th from 2:00-5:00pm. Please come help us celebrate this beautiful man. The event will be mostly outside to help mitigate Covid risks. We also ask that you wear a mask during the event if not eating or drinking. A memorial service with military honors will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a later date.
