Obituary of Valeri O'Sullivan

Valeri O’Sullivan (Leritz) passed away September 22, 2021 after an eight year battle with breast cancer at the age of 62.

Val was born February 28, 1959 in Brainerd, MN. When Val was two years old; her family moved to the family farm near Menahga. Here, she made life-long friendships. She graduated from Menahga High School in 1977. Val was the Valedictorian of her class.

Val attended the University of MN and graduated with a BA in Journalism/Advertising. She was a prominent media buyer for Carmichael Lynch, Campbell Mithun, Compass Point Media and recently, Media Hub. Val took great pride in her work and loved her job.

Val and Jay O’Sullivan were married on September 22, 2000. They made their home in Bloomington, Minnesota. They loved going to their property near Little Marais where they enjoyed campfires and wildlife. Their annual trip to the state fair was a must.

Family was very important to Val. She especially enjoyed her many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Val had a great sense of humor and could always express that in pictures and poems. We will miss her wit, sense of humor, and intelligence.

Val is survived by her husband Jay O’Sullivan; her mother, Phyllis Leritz of Manahga; her sisters Linda (Greg) Giese, Diane (David) Sauer, Glenda Petry, and Deb (Dan) Michels; and brother Phil (Donna) Leritz; Brother-in-law Bill (Audrey) O’Sullivan; and many, many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her father, Joe Leritz; her sister Gail Hawkins; and brother-in-law Chuck Hawkins.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, October 22, 2021 at the Cremation Society of Minnesota’s Edina location, 7110 France Avenue South, Edina, MN 55435. Visitation starting at 1pm,  and service at 2pm, with reception to follow.
