Aunt Carolyn will always have a special place in my heart. As a young boy, she never seemed to fit the “aunt” image, she was more like a big sister that was only available every once in a while. With her age within 11 years of mine and cousin Ray, and less than that for our older siblings, Ted and Patty, Carolyn always seemed like a more mature playmate! She was more experienced and knowledgeable, but approachable, totally inclusive and drop dead beautiful!!
By the time I entered Jr High (1954), Carolyn was completing college and my more “worldly outlook” recognized that she was indeed an adult, but still someone totally approachable and loving………a relationship that continued through the rest of her life. Distances apart grew greater and occasions when our paths crossed were less often, but that beautiful smile and loving hug were always there when we saw her next! Our visits in Potsdam where we got to know Uncle Bob and our new cousins, then the visits to the Albany area and later to the 50th anniversary party were enjoyable!
Now, as an old fart, one wishes the miles apart had been less and the occasions together more………. but thankful for the lovely memories!
