Obituary of Roland Alvin Weber
Weber, Roland (Rollie) Age 84, of West St. Paul, passed away peacefully on Sept. 14, 2021, while surrounded by family.
When Rollie met Virginia (Ginny) Cole 65 years ago, he went home that day and told his mother, "I’m going to marry her!" And after 63 years of marriage, their love is still intact! He spent eight years in the Navy Reserve, and 45 years at Montgomery Ward. After retirement, Rollie enjoyed his part-time job at MindWare educational and learning toys.
Another love was animals, especially cats and dogs. He volunteered at a local cat rescue, cleaning cages and nurturing the strays. He also volunteered at Burbank Livingston-Griggs Mansion on Summit Hill as a tour guide; he appreciated history and historical buildings.
Rollie's family was his true passion, and he enjoyed traveling with his children to: Las Vegas, including a helicopter ride in the Grand Canyon; Europe (Scotland, London and York, England); and Canadian fishing trips with his son and grandchildren; along with activities with his grandchildren, such as hot air balloon rides, sky diving, annual pumpkin patch trips and many more.
Rollie could never turn down a good estate sale with his kids and would say: "one man’s junk, another man’s treasure!" The day always ended with “lunch” at Sam’s Club! His sense of humor was top notch!
Rollie is preceded in death by mother, Delia Larsen; sisters Rosela Nack, Carol Ross, June Loehr and Faye Lorraine; and brother LeRoy Weber. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Virginia (Ginny); children, Kim Weber, Theresa Weber (Trina), Julie Mudgett (Chris), Craig Weber (Laurie), Kathy Weber (Lisa); grandchildren Amanda Avery, Katie Hermerding (BJ), Michael Weber (Reyna), Nick Weber (Pebbles), Steven Weber (Alyssa), Christopher Mudgett, Dylan Mudgett (Josie), Kelly Weber (Tanner), Melissa Plasek (Chris), Collin Mudgett, Jacob Weber
and great grandchildren, Madison, Sara, Diego, Trevor, Adeline, Gideon, Leo, Zoey, Samuel, Alexis, Kensley, Ashton, Jackson, Theodore. Also survived by brother Charles Weber, many nieces and nephews, and a tremendous circle of cherished friends.
We would also like to thank all of his caregivers at Walker Westwood Ridge as well as Hospice Team, you truly made a difference in dad’s transition.
In respect for Rollie's wishes, there will be no formal service but all of your thoughts and prayers have been greatly appreciated. His final resting place is the last thing on his bucket list -- for his ashes to be scattered in Alaska along with those of his faithful dog, Daisy. Rest easy, Chickie, we love you!
The family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider making a donation to their favorite charity in Rollie’s name.
