Obituary of David Mathias Grengs

David Mathias Grengs, age 56, of Delano passed away August 30, 2021. David was born May 21, 1965 in Canby, MN, the son of Mathias and Lona Grengs. He attended St. Leo Catholic School and then Canby High School.

David moved to Delano in 1990 and began working in the landscaping business. This quickly led him to become an expert involving all things tree work related, a career and hobby which he enjoyed through the rest of his life. In 1999 David started his own landscaping business Summit Seasonal Services. Delano is where he met Tracey Meyer and together in 2001 their son Dylan was born. In 2004 his daughter Samantha was also born. 2006 marked his move to Gary, SD where he worked in the wind turbine fields. From 2009 to 2017 David returned to his roots, working for Larson Lawnscaping out of Mound, MN. He briefly joined his brother at Landscape Structures in Delano, then in 2018 he began his final job as a Transportation Foreman for Hennepin County on the West side of the Twin Cities.

David enjoyed relaxing weekends filled with bonfires, beer, and grilling with family and friends. He had a marvelous way of telling his life stories that kept everyone drawn in. As selfless as one can come, he always kept his friends close and his family closer.

David is survived by his parents Mathias and Lona Grengs of St. Leo, MN, his brothers, Terry of Delano, Steve (Cheryl) of St. Leo, Doug (Lynn) of Brookings, SD, Dennis of St. Leo and a sister, Lisa (John) of Hinckley. His son, Dylan and daughter, Samantha of Delano.

His service will be held Thursday September 9th, at The Church of St. Maximilian Kolbe-St Peter Campus in Delano, Minnesota. Visitation begins at 10 am, service at 11 am. Celebration of Life begins at 5 pm at Dave’s Town Club just down the street.
