Obituary of Stephen Roy Levi
78, of Mpls, died on 7/22/2021. Born on 7/4/1943 to Lucille N. and Stephen F. Levi. Predeceased by his parents, brother Peter Levi and sister Ann Levi. Survived by son Stephen R. Levi and his mother Mary Dorsey Levi, step-daughter Sandra Dorsey, sisters, Pat Levi, Liz Levi, Mary Rose, Casey (Dan) McGuire, niece and nephews, Peter, Stephen and Patrick Levi, Sorcha and Declan McGuire and many cousins.
Steve was fun-loving, a great listener, and his greetings always made you feel like you were the just the person he wanted to see. He was the adult all of the kids wanted to sit next to at Christmas dinner. Steve was a caring and attentive father. He cherished being a dad and spending time with family and friends. Steve loved to travel, especially to the beach. Napping, gardening and walking with his dog were among his favorite pastimes.
Steve found deep purpose in his work as a Catholic priest, and later as an alcohol and other drug counselor. In the 1970’s, Steve used his ‘fifteen minutes of fame’, as he referred to it, to call attention to the lack of support offered to addicts and petitioned the Catholic Church to include addiction to the list of illnesses for which one could receive the Sacrament of the Sick - to aid in their healing and reclaiming their dignity.
Beloved father, brother, cousin and friend, we will miss his kindness, warmth and lightheartedness.
