Obituary of Peggy Alynn Swearingen

Peggy Alynn Swearingen (Engelking-Schweppe)

Age 91 of Inver Grove Heights, MN

Beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully at White Pine Memory Care on August 9, 2021 after a long and courageous struggle with Alzheimer’s.

Peggy was born on March 17, 1930 in St. James, MN, to Olga (Hugget) and Ernest Engelking.

She loved to sew and enjoyed her long-time career as a Realtor in partnership with her husband, Richard Swearingen.  She was also very proud of her Norwegian heritage.

Peggy is survived by daughter, Jody Downing and husband, Tom, of Mendota Heights, MN; son Dean Swearingen and wife, Babs, of Woodbury, MN; daughter-in-law, Wanda Markle; eleven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and parents-in-law, Katherine (Klopp) and Ernest Swearingen; eleven brothers and sisters; sister- and brother-in-law, Margaret and Loren Stade, husband, Richard Swearingen; and sons, Marc Swearingen, Dale Swearingen, and Todd Swearingen.

Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, August 28, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at The Cremation Society of St. Paul, 1979 Old Hudson Road, St. Paul, MN 55119.

Interment on a future date at Fairview Memorial Park in Fairmont, MN.
