Obituary of Thomas Fred Meurer

Thomas Fred Meurer, of Cushing, Wisconsin, passed away on 8/08/2021 at a hospice in Oakdale, MN. from the effects of gallbladder cancer.  In his final days, he was able to visit with family, friends, and his two beloved Labrador retrievers (Annie and Bella).     

Tom was born on July 10, 1948 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the second of three children born to Audrey and Fred Meurer.  He is survived by his son Brenton Meurer (husband of Jackie Meurer) and his granddaughters Ashley and Avery Meurer (all  of Southlake, TX.); his sister Kathleen Eimermann (wife of Thomas Eimermann) of Stillwater, MN; and his brother Todd Meurer (husband of Holly Dowling) of Verona, WI.

Tom was a U.S. Airforce veteran who served as a weapons mechanic at the Phu Cat Air Base during the Vietnam war. After completing his military service, he earned a degree in accounting from Northern Illinois University, and began a career working in finance and logistics.  While he lived and worked in Texas most of his life, he returned to his native Wisconsin in 2016, to live on a lake in northwestern Wisconsin, where he enjoyed boating, fishing, and the friendship and support of his Herby Lake neighbors. 

Tom was a bit of an enigma in that he was a loner who loved people.  He kept his wonderful sense of humor and his “wink of the eye” to the very end.
