Obituary of Kevin Jack Hendrickson
Kevin Jack Hendrickson, of Duluth, passed away on Friday, August 6, 2021 at the age of 67 surrounded by family at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Medical Center following a hard fought battle against leukemia. Kevin, the son of Kenneth and Phyllis (Johnson) Hendrickson was born on September 1, 1953 in Albany, New York. Kevin and family lived in various places across the country as his father served in the Marine Corps, before settling down in Duluth in 1969. Kevin graduated from Morgan Park High School in 1971 where he played basketball, baseball, and golf. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from UMD in 1975 and worked in sales for various companies supporting convenience and grocery stores. His love for sports continued well after high school as he spent decades playing on city basketball leagues and local fastpitch softball teams where he was fondly referred to as Hammerin’ Hank. Kevin also enjoyed golfing and playing in a local cribbage league.
Kevin was preceded in death by his parents Kenneth and Phyllis. He is survived by his daughter Briana (Brian) Hendrickson of Maple Grove, brother Charles Hendrickson of Fridley, sister Julie (Kirk) Pugsley of Coffey, MO, nephew Eric (Amy) Hendrickson, nieces Jennie (Steve) Danielson and Christi (Gary) Kmecik, and many cousins. The family wishes to send their heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to the Oncology doctors and nursing staff at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth for their tremendous care over the last 4 years and during all of Kevin’s extended hospital stays.
Visitation 2:00pm until the 3:00pm funeral service followed by light refreshments on Sunday, August 22, 2021 at the Cremation Society of Minnesota. 4100 Grand Ave., Duluth, Minnesota 55807. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Kevin’s memory to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or Westminster Presbyterian Church in Duluth, MN.
