Obituary of Allen Edward Carlson

Allen Edward Carlson went home to his Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 1, surrounded by his loving family. Al was an avid fisherman at the family cabin, and he loved sitting on the patio under the sun shade & listening to the Twins. Al was born in Storm Lake IA. He attended Albert City high school, and Waldorf and Gustavus colleges before graduating with a Business degree. After college, Al enlisted in the Army and spent time in Heidelberg, Germany doing Accounting. Upon honorable discharge, Al moved to Minneapolis, worked at Pillsbury, and then found his long-time employment as an accountant with Timesavers, Inc. Al met Shirley Englund though a mutual friend and they married in 1961. The couple then had two daughters, Lori Beth and Susan Helen. Allen was preceded in death by his father, Conrad Carlson, mother Agda Carlson, sister Jeanette Lakowski, brother-in-law Bob Johnson and sister-in-law Kay Johnson. He is survived by wife, Shirley Carlson, daughters Lori (Ralph) Gasow & Susan (Chris) Nelson, grandchildren Zach Gasow, Amanda (Robbie) Rice, Kaleigh Butkowski (Justin Pfannenstein), Madison Butkowski (Freddy Rodriguez) and special niece and nephews, Diane, Larry and Mark. Visitation 1pm with service 2pm, August 10 at the Cremation Society of MN Edina, 7110 France Ave S. Edina, MN. Memorials to Waldorf College Athletics or Lutheran Social Services of MN.
