Obituary of Lois Mae West
On Wednesday, July 28 2021, Lois passed into Glory surrounded by her loving family, one week before her 98th birthday. She was Born in Madrid, Iowa.
After Pearl Harbor, with a strong desire to serve her country, she enlisted in the Navy. She was stationed in Washington, DC working with a team decoding intercepted enemy messages. While in DC, at a bar with her girlfriends, she met a handsome young GI named Ted. After the war, they married and moved to Champlin, MN where they raised their family. She was a lifetime member of the Champlin American Legion Auxiliary Post 600. Throughout her years, she worked at Hoffman Engineering in Anoka and finished her working years in food service at the Anoka-Hennipen School District. Lois and Ted were charter members of Champlin Methodist Church where they served faithfully with beloved friends. Thank you to the people of the church for loving and caring for our mom!They spent their retirement years wintering in Arizona. Lois considered it one of her greatest honors to have raised the flag at a Minnesota Twins baseball game.
She is preceded in death by pretty much everybody, including her husband, Ted after 62 years of marriage. She is survived by her children, Dick (Kathy), Jay (Robyn) and Janet Dow (Dale). Lois was blessed with 9 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Memorial Service will be Thursday, August 5th at 11am at Champlin United Methodist Church, 921 Downs Road, Champlin, MN 55316 with a visitation 10am. Burial will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery on a later date.
