Obituary of Nancy Ann Schwalbe

NANCY ANN SCHWALBE

On Wednesday, July 21, 2021, Nancy Schwalbe passed away in the presence of her family.

Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, Walter F and Alice Vivian (Benson) Peterson, sister Vivian Egestrom, and brothers Walter (Ila) and Murray (Mary) Peterson .  She is survived by her sons Robin Schwalbe (Cyndi) and Bret Schwalbe (Nicole); and daughter Melanie Simpson (Todd) and former husband Lowell Schwalbe; as well as six grandchildren: Jordan (Gary) McDougall, Alex, Cole, Jack (Hannah), Devyn, and Luke Schwalbe.

Nancy was born in Moose Lake, MN and grew up in Mound.  She spent her childhood roaming the beautiful outdoors.  After high school she married and began a life in Southern MN where she was a longtime employee of Federated Insurance.

Nancy was  a kind and loving mother, a friend who always greeted you with a smile and sometimes surprised you with a bit of a prank-motivated by a great sense of humor!  She was feisty when needed and stubborn for the right things.

Nancy raised her kids in Owatonna, MN.  She worked hard for her family and spent time enjoying life with them.  She made growing up fun and lively with camping trips, Valley Fair; nights of popcorn and puzzles, playing cards, and parties. She had a fondness for horses, dogs, and watching the birds out her family room window. She loved tending her yard, flowers, and garden; and got cranky with the deer, bunnies and squirrels that interfered with those things. When the MN weather turned cold and wintery you could find Nancy, sitting in the evening in that family room, contentedly working away on a jigsaw puzzle while a classic movie played on the television.

She was a woman of strong faith and a long time member of the Owatonna Christian Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.  Her positive outlook on life and wonderful hope for the future were rooted in the truth of the Bible and she enjoyed sharing that with others.

Nancy was a lady who sauntered gracefully through life with an easy smile, a good natured heart, and quiet inner strength.  She will be dearly missed.

A Memorial Talk will be given at 3pm August 21, 2021 via Zoom.
