Obituary of George William Amble

 

Age 86 of St. Paul died July 17, 2021. He attended Monroe H.S., Concordia Prep H.S. and graduated from Macalester College. Former director of employee benefits and relocation at Deluxe Corporation and retired after 32 years. Following his retirement, he joined the Catholic Charities Volunteer Corp. Later, he took volunteer positions at Martin Luther King Center, Hallie Q. Brown Community Center, VISTA and the MN Literacy Counsel as a tutor. He enjoyed volunteering at Listening House and George and Kathie spent 14 years volunteering in Guatemala. George’s interests included running races and marathons (Grandma’s and Twin Cities Marathons), biking, playing the guitar, and learning Spanish. George’s happy place was the family lake cabin.  Preceded in death by parents, George A. and Agnes C.; sister, Karen Marie. Survived by his wife of 58 years, Kathie; children, Laura Simon (Mike Tocko), Peter Amble (Diane) and Stephen Amble; grandchildren, Julie (Justin), Mitchell, Joseph, Sarah, Nick, and Owen and Will and their mother, Theresa; other relatives and many friends. Memorial Mass Friday, July 30th, 11:00 am with visitation starting at 10:00 am at St Francis Cabrini Catholic Church, 1500 Franklin Avenue SE, Mpls. MN 55414. Luncheon to follow the service. Private interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery.  Memorials preferred to Catholic Charities of St. Paul and Mpls. or Listening House of St. Paul.
