Obituary of Britta Marie Showalter
Britta Marie Showalter, age 89, of St Paul, passed away peacefully in her sleep after being surrounded by her loving family on July 7, 2021. At age 89 she was a beloved wife, mother and friend. Britta was preceded in death by her father, Griffith Roberts, her mother Winnifred Roberts, her sister Mary Elizabeth Kerr and son Reverend Thomas F Showalter. She is survived by her husband, Don Showalter, her children Steve (Vicki), Ann Serdar, Mary Jo Rolczynski (Dan), Robert, Meg McManmon (George), Teri Drake (Jeff Nipper), 19 grandchildren, and 47 great grandchildren. Sh was wise, caring and generous with her time and had a very strong faith in God that she has passed onto her children. She was born in Spokane, Washington. Britta attended Catholic schools throughout her life, grade school in Spokane, high school in Seattle, college in Chicago. She married Don Showalter in 1951. She raised seven children. She started a Montessori School in Spokane in 1969 that is still thriving today. Both Don and Britta were very involved in the Cursillo movement and the Charismatic renewal starting in the early 60's which led them to move to Minneapolis in 1977 to join an Ecumenical Christian Community. Britta will be remembered for her deep faith, exceptional wisdom, and wonderful sense of humor. Mass of Christian burial will be at St Peters in Mendota Heights on Thursday, July 15, 2021. Visitation at 10 AM. Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Little Sisters of the Poor, St Paul.
