Obituary of Janice (DeChambeau) Smith

Janice “Jan” (DeChambeau) Smith, 84, of Duluth, passed away Monday, June 28, 2021, at Solvay Hospice House in Duluth, MN. She was born in Duluth, MN on June 16, 1937 to Orville “Babe” DeChambeau and Helen (Rolla) DeChambeau. She grew up in Duluth and was a proud 1955 Denfeld High School graduate. Jan married John “Jack” Smith on July 27, 1957. Jan lived the most of her life within the Denfeld neighborhood  which she loved. She worked for International Trucks, and for ISD 709 as a school secretary for 28 years at Julius Barnes and Lincoln Park Schools in Duluth, retiring in 2000.

Jan was preceded in death by her parents, husband “Jack” and brother Jim (Donna) DeChambeau. She is survived by sons Craig (Michelle) Smith, Mark (Gayle) Smith, daughter Shari (Tim) Mlodozyniec and sister-in-law Donna DeChambeau, grandchildren Matthew Smith, Andrew Smith, Brent (Lisa) Smith, Kelsey (Karl) Funk, Eryn Mlodozyniec, Bryan Mlodozyniec, great grandchildren Audriana Smith and Isla Smith.

Visitation will be July 22, 2021, at 2:00 pm followed the Celebration of Life at 3:00 pm at First Memorial Funeral home, 4100 Grand Avenue Duluth, MN.
