Lorna Kay Smasal
April 4th, 1945 to June 14th, 2021
Lorna Kay Smasal, 76, born in Mound on April 4th, 1945 of Buffalo, was welcomed into heaven on June 14th, 2021 at home with family by her side after a courageous battle with lung cancer. She was greeted by her husband, Michael E. Smasal , mother LaVerne Nichols, sister Kathy Mae and special Aunt and Uncle, Lizzy and Mike Heitz, In-laws Eugene and Agatha Smasal, brother in laws William Smasal, Leon Teat and Harry Fleming
Lorna enjoyed being busy with family and working, especially at New Beginnings, Meridian. She made friends wherever she went and would talk to everybody. She liked playing Bingo and watching the Wild, Twins and of course, The Wheel of Fortune. She will be missed by many and remembered for her smile, sassiness and caring personality. Many laughs were shared, many hugs were given, many I love you's said and now many tears will shed.
Lorna is survived by her daughter, Robyn (Tom) Holland, Kayla and Kyle of Dayton, MN and son, Dennis and grandpup, Gretta of Buffalo, MN; sisters Glenda (Fleming) (Jim) Garman of Tucson AZ and Sharon Teat of Stillwater, MN. Also, In-laws Mary Smasal, Betty (Hal) Horrigan and David (Ann) Smasal, Auntie Sue (Ralph) Wilson, many nieces and nephews, cousins and special friends, especially Cory (Mary) Remer.
We are grateful for the wonderful care that was given by the staff of Virginia Piper Cancer Center, part of Allina Health and Allina Home Health. They are truly angels on earth.
Lorna will be laid to rest with her husband at Fort Snelling at a private interment at a later date with a Celebration of Life to follow.
