Obituary of Mark Schroer
Mark Schroer passed away June 15th at Viewcrest Health Center. Mark was born January 22, 1945 to parents, Bill and Barb, and grew up along with his sister Perry on Park Point with the big lake and sandy beach in their backyard. He attended Park Point Elementary, Washington Junior, and Central High School. Mark worked many mechanical maintenance jobs on big equipment at Superwood, Clyde Ironworks, Barko, and Reach All Louisiana Pacific. Mark met Linda on a blind date. They married in 1968 and started their life together in a cabin in the woods on ten acres of land on the French River, building their home there. They had three children, Laura, Robert and Rebecca.
Mark loved the beauty and adventure of Lake Superior and he enjoyed sailboat racing with the Duluth Yacht Club for many years. He, his son Bob, and their good friends sailed to the Apostle Islands and Isle Royal every summer.
Mark was preceded in death by parents Bill and Barb and daughters Laura and Becky.
He is survived by his wife Linda, son Bob (Jeanine) Schroer, grandsons Jeremiah Schroer & Solomon Walker, and sister Perry (Dick) Vitullo.
Mark will be remembered for his good nature and sense of humor.
The family would like to thank all the caregivers at Viewcrest and Essentia Hospice for their care and kindness, especially to his aides who made his stay there comfortable. In lieu of memorial gifts, please consider a donation to Animal Allies or the Duluth Superior Sailing Association (donations to DSSA can be made on their 2021 membership form). A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
