Obituary of Daniel Joseph Fogarty

Dan Fogarty, 59, beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and uncle passed away surrounded by his wife and children on June 23, 2021. Dan was born on July 17, 1961 to Thomas and Margaret Fogarty in New Prague, MN. He graduated from Belle Plaine High School and continued his education at Normandale Community College. Dan married his wife, Julie, on July 5, 1997. A very loving and dedicated father, Dan and Julie raised their three children, Kayleigh, Daniel, and Caitlin. Dan was a devoted family man, and loved spending time with his wife, kids, grandsons, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Dan was a dedicated Duluth Police Officer for 27 years. He worked as a patrol officer, community officer, within the investigations division and he rounded out his career as a patrol sergeant when he retired in July 2011. After retirement, Dan enjoyed mounted shooting with his horse Pearl, showing his dogs, and competing in agility with his Standard Schnauzer, Sully.

Dan is survived by his wife, Julie. His children; Kayleigh (Paul Mickelson) Fogarty, Dan (Haley) Fogarty, and Caitlin Fogarty. Grandchildren Hudson and Emmett Fogarty. Siblings TC (Carol) Fogarty, Charles (Pat) Fogarty, Angie (Frank) Mueller, Margi (Pete Van Hoven) Miller. Along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews. 

Dan is proceeded in death by his parents Thomas and Margaret. His sisters Mariette Vander Kelen and Bridget DeVolder.

Dan’s Celebration of Life will be held at the Duluth Cremation Society (4100 Grand Ave Duluth, MN) on Tuesday, July 6. Visitation will be from 9-10 a.m., and the service will begin at 10 a.m.
