Obituary of Richard Johannes Sundberg
Sundberg, Richard Johannes "Dick" 87, died peacefully at Mount Olivet Careview Home on May 28, 2021. He was born on May 9, 1934, to Alfred Rudolph Sundberg and Astrid (Molla) Lorentzen Sundberg, of St. Paul, Minnesota. Dick graduated from St. Paul Central High School, the University of Minnesota (where he was a member of the Chi Psi Fraternity), and the University of Minnesota Law School. He practised law for a living, but he read for life. He was an autodidact, teaching himself archeology, astronomy, geology, history, philosophy, sociobiology. He loved classical music, especially Beethoven, Rachmaninoff, Vivaldi, and Bach, probably in that order. He landscaped his yard and built bookshelves for his house. He designed, built, and flew model airplanes. He loved boating on Lake Minnetonka and spending time at the family cabin on the North Shore of Lake Superior. He had convinced his young children he could turn inside out, and he was the best reader in the world of "'Twas the Night Before Christmas." Dick is survived by his second wife of forty-five years, Jill Larson Sundberg, who took such loving care of him; his children, Cynthia Sundberg Wall, Richard Charles Sundberg, Karen Elizabeth Sund-berg, Jodi Harvatin, and Jeff Payant; thirteen grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. His ashes will rest at Lichen Rocks North. Charitable donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, https://act.alz.org/site/Donation2?df_id=32112&32112.donation=form1
