Obituary of Paulette D. Ozzello

Paulette D. Ozzello passed away May 21, 2021 in Marywood Assisted Living, in Duluth.

Paulette was born in Wakefield, Michigan November 21, 1947. After high school she continued her education earning her Masters of Arts certificate from University of Michigan. Her career in special education began in Ann Arbor, Michigan and in 1980 she traveled back to her hometown for a class reunion reconnecting with a fellow classmate, Patrick Ozzello, who lived in Duluth. After a long-distance relationship, she relocated to Duluth and they were married August 1982 until Patrick’s death in 2002. She spent her entire career in special education, actively participating in the annual special Olympic programs until her retirement in 2010.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Tauno and Laila Wertanen.

She is survived by her brother, Norm (Deb) Wertanen; two step-daughters, Rhonda Ozzello and Candace Jackson; six grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

Memorial Service will be 10 a.m. with a visitation one hour prior, Tuesday June 8th at the Cremation Society of Minnesota, 4100 Grand Ave, Duluth.

The family has requested memorials to a charity of your choice in support of a children’s program.
